Afternoon Conversations Real Life Rebel: Telling Her Story

Afternoon Conversations Real Life Rebel: Telling Her Story

Margaret Tolbert will discuss her book, "Resilience in the Face of Adversity," about growing up in Suffolk during the Civil Rights struggle and overcoming adversity during that time.

In honor of Banned Books Week, The Suffolk Public Library will have a week long focus titled, Banning Books Silencing Stories: Alt Rebels. This project will be aimed to educate the public about intellectual freedom and censorship issues during Banned Books Week (BBW). The  project is designed to get people thinking about how things would be if banning books was a normal everyday occurrence and libraries were forced to be radicals and bibliophiles; rebels. During BBW, SPL will explore and focus on banned books as seen through the lens of an alternative universe scenario where books are banned everywhere and ideas are dangerous and host an assortment of Banned Books awareness activities and programs for everyone to participate in throughout the week.
